Jennifer Lynn Kasal, 47, of Tama, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Mercy. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelsea. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Jennifer was born on November 23, 1969, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Harry III and Mary Ann (Moehrl) Gardner.
She graduated from South Tama High School in 1988. She received an AA from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids in Handicap Services.
On September 14, 1991, she was united in marriage to Tony Kasal at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea. Jennifer was a Judicial Specialist at the Tama County Clerk of Court office. She loved camping but above all else she loved her time with her soul mate Tony, and her pride and joy, Ryan.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-five years, Tony of Tama; one son, Ryan Kasal (Karlee Starits) of Cedar Rapids; her father, Harry III (Jean) Gardner of Grand Rapids, MN; her mother-in-law, Eva Kasal of Chelsea; her grandmother, Myrtle Gardner of Grand Rapids, MN; two brothers, Harry IV Gardner (Kim Killion) of Littleton, CO, and Richard (Jessica) Gardner of Cedar Rapids; two step-sisters, Jodi (Howe) Siegel of Minnetonka, MN, and Julie (Adam) Schneider of Plymouth, MN; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Gardner Blaine; grandfather, Harry Gardner Jr.; maternal grandparents, Jim and Dorothy Moehrl; and father-in-law, Kenneth Kasal.
A memorial fund has been established.
