The STC Girls Tennis Team faced Marion at home on Thursday, April 13 on the first hot and humid night of the season. Marion proved too experienced for the Trojans as they posted a 9-0 win in WAMAC Conference Play.

South Tama was led once again by the play of Serena Lowe at #5 Singles and Abbie Morgan at #6 Singles. Lowe matched up against Megan Kongable. Lowe built an early lead into a 7-4 score before Kongable made a comeback. Winning the next five games, the player from Marion stole a win by the score of 9-7. Sophomore Morgan got behind early against Cayla Attwood 1-5. Staging her own rally, Morgan forced Attwood to steady her game before winning 8-6.

Senior Brycelyn Haughey struggled to find a consistent ground game as she fell to Madison Wilson 8-0 at #1 Singles. Bri Nelson dropped a 1-8 decision to Shannon Sellers at #2 Singles. Courtney Anderson represented South Tama at #3 Singles against Amery Bruce. Anderson mustered just one game in a 1-8 loss to Bruce. Exchange Student Laura Fernandez-Garcia matched up with Calista Dittmer at #4 Singles. Fernandez-Garcia served well, but lost 2-8.

In doubles play, STC found a bit more success. Anderson/Fernandez-Garcia teamed to face McKenna Hernandez/Amery Bruce at #2 Doubles. The STC Seniors kept things close early as they tied things at 4-4. Hernandez/Bruce proved too tough in the end as they converted an 8-4 win for Marion. Lowe/Morgan stepped in at #3 Doubles to face Baylea Bruce/Calista Dittmer. STC led briefly at 6-5 before falling by a final score of 6-8. Haughey/Nelson fell to Madison Wilson/Katie Hemann 1-8 at #1 Doubles.

In JV Action, STC tied Marion 6-6. The Trojans posted wins by the doubles teams of Anna Glendy/Zoee Buffalo, Kennedy Adams/Zoee Buffalo, Queta Diego/Addie Romero, Daniela Contreras/Abby Buffalo, Danae Cleppe/Autumn McFate, and Hanah Novotny/Jordan VanDee.
