South Tama “Stuff the Bus” campaign is successful

The South Tama Stuff the Bus campaign resulted in collection of a big amount of much needed school supplies. In an effort to assure all South Tama students have adequate supplies for this school year, a coalition of area groups and businesses have joined together and put together 17 drop off locations.

They included- Latta-Harris, LLP, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Thys Chevrolet, Independent Insurance Services, Lincoln Savings Bank, The State Bank of Toledo, Toledo Public Library, Deer Creek Health Center, Tama Co. MercyCare Clinic Tama, Tama News- Herald / Toledo Chronicle, Iowa Valley Tama County Education Center, Genesis Development, Scharnweber, Inc., USS Polaris, Tama-Toledo Aquatic Center's Back to School Splash event and STC Elem Back to School Night

A count of supplies collected included: pencils- 1,519, folders- 330, notebooks- 263, pens- 193, boxes of crayons- 156, glue sticks- 148, boxes of colored pencils- 66, kleenex- 65, erasers- 58, scissors- 57, loose leaf paper- 54, boxes of markers- 48, bottles of glue- 32, filled bags- 30, school boxes- 29, rulers- 25, composition notebooks- 22, disinfecting wipes- 22, highlighers- 20, binders- 16, school bags- 16, boxes of pencil top erasers- 15, paper towels- 14, expo markers- 10, sharpeners- 9, hand sanitizer- 7, ear buds- 4, pencil bags 4, water bottles- 3, white out- 3, compass- 2, protractor- 2, single hole punch- 2, ziplock bags- 1.

There were a few more than this as there were items taken to the school for Back to School night that were not counted and last minute drop offs at other locations that were taken to the school and not counted.
