Following graduation, he was inducted into the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, South Carolina. Following discharge in 1946, Mike enrolled at State Teachers College (now UNI) in Cedar Falls. He graduated in 1950 with a B.A. in Business Education. On August 28, 1949 he was united in marriage to Dona Mitchell at the Lutheran Church in Whittemore, Iowa. In 1968, he then moved into Administration in Denison, serving as Business Manager. In 1973, he accepted the position of Business Manager for South Tama Community Schools, retiring in 1988. Mike was very involved in the Tama-Toledo Community and St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Booster Club and T-T Country Club. Family was equally important and time with children and grandchildren was precious.
