Trojans can’t repeat comeback win

Despite their best efforts, the South Tama Trojans could not pull off a two-night streak of come from behind wins. The Trojans hosted Grinnell in their season opener on Monday, Nov. 27. They trailed the Tigers throughout the majority of the night but came back with a victory in the final seconds of the non-conference contest.

The following evening, the Trojans hosted Solon, who come from the eastern side of the WaMaC conference. The Trojans gave it a solid go and even narrowed the gap to just five points at the top of the fourth quarter. They just couldn't catch the break they needed to change the momentum. Solon came out of the night with a 78-61 win.

The loss of Justus Ward in the first quarter was a blow to the Trojans. Ward came out of the game with an injury and did not return.

Gabe Shields led the Trojans with 21 points and also had 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
