STC captures first win
December 6, 2017

South Tama found what they have been searching for on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The Trojans captured their first win of the season 51-47 over Solon.

The Trojans had faced two of the top four ranked Class 4A basketball teams in Western Dubuque and Grinnell falling in both matchups, 76-47 and 76-40.

South Tama's leading scorer Jessica Musgrave had seen limited playing minutes this season due to an injury. But in Tuesday's matchup she came out strong, leading the Trojans with 18 points; just shy of her 20.5 points per game average from the 2016-17 season. Musgrave's presence in the game made a difference for the Trojans. But it would be Sadie Smith who stepped up to sink crucial free throws to secure the Trojans victory. Smith closed out the night with 10 points, 5 rebounds and was 6 of 8 from the free throw line.
