Dustin Jefferson to enter plea

Dustin Jerome Jefferson, 42, charged with sexual abuse is scheduled to enter a guilty plea in a case involving charges according to Tama County District court records.

A plea hearing has been set for Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Tama County Courthouse in Toledo.

A case management conference is scheduled in the case for Feb. 15.

Jefferson originally faced five counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse filed by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police on Oct. 9, 2013.

Jefferson was convicted of 1st degree murder- by aiding and abetting in the death of his wife and is serving a life sentence handed down on May 6, 2016. He was convicted by a Jasper County Jury on a change of venue to Newton on Feb. 9, 2016. An appeal to the Iowa Supreme court was filed on May 5, 2106.

His mother, Ginger Lea Jefferson, 61, is also serving a life sentence for 1st degree murder in the case. Kerry Lea O'Clair Jefferson, 32, was found dead in a Tama residence on Sept. 25, 2013.
