South Tama sweeps Anamosa in double header

Game one and two couldn't have been more opposite but in the end both wins went to the STC Trojans. South Tama hosted WaMaC eastern conference team, Anamosa for a double header on Thursday, May 31. The Trojans dominated game one with a 17-2 win, enacting the 15 run rule in the 5th innings. A late run in the bottom of the 7th also secured a 1-0 finish in game two.

Game One

The Trojans got the 17-2 game one win thanks to a 13 run streak in the second inning. Cam Klostermann, Cael Kellogg, Matt Wiese and Brayden Smith each hit singles during the inning while Carter Kriegel, Jackson Beltz and Cael Kellogg hit doubles. Anamosa went through three pitchers before they were able to put the Trojans offensive attack to a stop.

Getting the start for the Trojans was Kellogg. He went for three innings allowing no runs on one hit while striking out three and walking none.

The Trojans ended game one with 15 hits with Payton Vest, Smith, Klostermann and Kellogg all with multiple hits. Vest was three for three at the plate.

Game Two

Game two was quite the opposite however the outcome remained the same favoring the Trojans. Pitching for both teams helped keep any offense at bay until the last second of the evening.

Anamosa's ? McLean started for the Blue Raiders. He allowed two hits and no runs over 4 1/3 innings. McLean struck out seven.

STC's Mickey Wanatee started for the Trojans. He allowed no hits and no runs through five innings, striking out eight.

On offense Matt Wiese and Klostermann each had a hit for the Trojans.

Going into the bottom of the 7th neither team had managed to score. Kellogg stepped up to the plate with two outs on the board. He struck out but an error at home plate allowed Smith who was at 3rd to score the winning run for the Trojans. The night ended in a sweep for South Tama.
