Pair face charges in Toledo, Iowa, robbery

A woman was reported assaulted and her purse stolen in an incident early Sunday, July 8, on the south side of a Toledo motel.

Two persons have been arrested and face 2nd degree robbery as well as other charges as a result. Levi Cruz Troxell, 23, and Brittany Morgan, 25, were being held in the Tama County Jail in Toledo on Wednesday under $10,000 cash bond each.

According to Toledo Police Chief Bob Kendall the pair allegedly assaulted the 40-year-old victim then fled the scene at the Designer Inn and Suites in a 2006 model sports utility vehicle driven by Troxell. In leaving the scene it was reported Troxell ran into a fence surrounding a dumpster, destroying the fence.

As the vehicle left, a small child was observed sticking its head outside the SUV sunroof.

Morgan was later arrested in Tama and charged with 2nd degree robbery - aiding and abetting, child endangerment, interference with official acts and providing false information to law enforcement. Troxell was arrested on Monday, July 10, at UnityPoint Health, Marshalltown, after being treated there for an illness by Toledo Police Officer Fred Oster. Troxell was charged with 2nd degree robbery and interference with official acts.
