The closing of the first half of the STC girls basketball season has been a good run for the Trojans. STC hosted Independence on Friday, December 21 and defeated the Mustangs 61-20 at the Round House for their third straight win.

Starting for the Trojans were Jessica Musgrave, Jaelin Berger, Madison Rohach, Carissa Musgrave and Taylor Ray.

The Trojans came out strong on offense. They scored 22 points in the first quarter and held Independence to just four points. By halftime STC led 36-11. Following halftime STC continued to dominate. Independence hit just their third field goal of the night courtesy of Jadyn Schultz. STC then went on a seven point unanswered run. Zoee Buffalo was fouled and she hit both of her free throws. She then followed that up with a basket and all the while Independence went scoreless. The Trojan bench including Tylese Rosenberger, Abby Morgan and Aubrey Roberts all saw significant minutes in the fourth quarter. Morgan finished the night with five points while Roberts had two.

STC was also able to hold Independence to 20 points on the night, making it one of the lowest scoring finishes for the Mustangs this season.

Jessica Musgrave led the Trojans with 16 points and Zoee Buffalo had her third straight game in double digits scoring 14 points. Buffalo has come on strong at the post, using her height to her advantage.

The win on Friday puts the Trojans on a three game winning streak and improves their record to an even 5-5.

They will return to the court on Friday, January 4 with a road game at Clear Creek Amana.
